The Hidden Reason Everything Starts to Feel Heavy

May 05, 20265 min read

There are periods in life where things genuinely feel heavy

Not imagined
Not exaggerated

Real weight

Moments where everything takes more effort

Where your energy feels lower than it should

Where even simple things
don’t feel simple anymore

And sometimes there are reasons for that

Loss
Pressure
Experiences that leave a mark

So it’s natural to look at life
and say:

“This is why I feel this way”

And for a long time

that’s exactly what I believed

Because when everything feels heavier

the most logical conclusion is

that life itself has become heavier

But there was something I didn’t see

Not because it wasn’t there

but because I was inside it

The shift had already happened

quietly

Not in life

but in how I was experiencing it

Because when I look back now

with more clarity

I can see something much more precise

Life didn’t suddenly become heavier

I was moving through a different state

You Are Not in One State - You’re Constantly Moving Between Them

This is something most people are not aware of.

We don’t live in one fixed state of awareness.

We are constantly shifting.

Subtly.
Quietly.
Moment to moment.

Sometimes you feel open.
Clear.
Light.

And then, without fully noticing…

something changes.

You feel slightly more tense.
More reactive.
More inward.

And the shift is so small
that it goes unnoticed.

Until it doesn’t.

Why Life Starts to Feel Hard Without a Clear Reason

Because what most people experience as “life getting harder”…

is often something else.

It’s the accumulation of small shifts
into more contracted states.

And these states are not random.

They are often triggered.

By something you see.
Something you hear.
Something that reminds your system
of something unresolved.

And here’s the part most people miss:

You don’t have to consciously remember anything
for it to affect you.

The body remembers.
The system remembers.

And when something touches that…

your state shifts.

Unprocessed Experiences Don’t Disappear They Stay Active

This is where things become more clear.

Experiences that were never fully processed…

don’t just go away.

They get pushed aside.

But they don’t lose their influence.

They stay active in the background.

And whenever something in your environment
touches that same pattern…

your system reacts.

Not because life is difficult in that moment…

but because something unresolved is being activated.

And That’s Where the Illusion Begins

Because from within that state…

everything feels real.

It feels like life is the problem.

Like things are too much.
Too complicated.
Too heavy.

But what’s actually happening is different.

You are experiencing life
through a lowered state of awareness
that has been triggered.

And because you’re inside it…

you don’t see the state.

You see the story.

This is often why periods of uncertainty or emotional heaviness can feel like life itself is collapsing.

But sometimes what feels like a breakdown is actually something deeper being exposed.

I explored that more deeply here:

When Life Falls Apart: Why It’s Not a Setback, But an Opening

This Is Why You Start Believing Life Is Hard

Not because it is.

But because you’re repeatedly moving through states
that make it feel that way.

And without awareness of those shifts…

it becomes your reality.

A lived conclusion:

“Life is just difficult.”

What Changed Everything for Me

For a long time, I tried to solve this through thinking.

Understanding.
Analysing.
Trying to figure out why I felt the way I did.

But that never really created a shift.

Because the thinking was happening
inside the same state.

What changed everything
was something much more direct.

I started noticing my state.

Not the story.
Not the situation.

The state itself.

And Then Something Very Practical Became Clear

If something feels heavy…

I don’t immediately trust it.

I don’t assume it’s life.

I recognise:

Something in me has been activated.

Something unresolved has been touched.

And my state has shifted because of it.

That alone changes how you respond.

Transformation Is Not What You Think It Is

Most people think transformation is about changing their life.

But what I’ve come to see is this:

Transformation is the process
of dissolving what keeps pulling you into lower states.

It’s not about adding something new.

It’s about releasing what is still active inside you.

Because every time something unresolved dissolves…

your state changes.

This Is What Spiritual Growth Actually Is

Not something abstract.

Not something distant.

But something very practical.

Each time emotional energy is processed…

each time a contraction releases…

your baseline state rises.

You become less reactive.
Less triggered.
Less pulled into those patterns.

And more often…

you remain open.

Clear.

Present.

And That Changes Your Entire Experience of Life

Not because life becomes perfect.

But because you are no longer constantly pulled
into those contracted states.

The same situations
feel lighter.

The same moments
feel more simple.

The same life
feels different.

The Signal I Now Trust

Now, when something feels off…

when everything suddenly feels heavier than it should…

I don’t immediately react.

I pause.

And I check something simple:

“What state am I in right now?”

Because I know:

If my state is not clear…

my interpretation won’t be either.

Returning to What Is Actually Stable

There is something underneath all of this.

A point that is not constantly shifting.

A center.

But you don’t reach it through thinking.

You return to it through awareness.

Through presence.

Through noticing what is happening
without immediately becoming it.

And when that happens…

something shifts again.

Not outside.

Inside.

I explored that process more deeply here:

The Moment You Stop Postponing, Life Starts Responding

The Quiet Truth

What feels like life becoming difficult…

is often a movement through a lower state
triggered by something unresolved.

And what feels like clarity returning…

is not something new.

It’s simply you no longer being pulled away from it.

So instead of asking:

“What’s wrong with my life?”

A different question becomes available:

“What is being activated in me right now?”

Because that question
opens the door to something real.
